The Management Committee of the Island Saturday league have decided

to have only 2 divisions instead of 3 next season given the small number of clubs in Division 3

Both divisions will have 16 teams resulting in 30 league matches per season. In Division 1, where Newport Reserves compete, Sandown have been given a reprieve from relegation for the second successive season and joining promoted sides, Ventnor and Brading Reserves will be East Cowes Vics Resrerves.

The restructuring has so far brought mixed response from clubs. One third division team was pleased with the reorganisation as they found playing their opponents four times a season a bit boring, however some clubs are wondering how they are going to play 30 matches a season, given the struggle this year to play 26 matches in Div 1 or 24 in Div 3. Some clubs feel that it is a Saturday league and that midweek matches should be kept to a minimum.

The letter sent to clubs from League Secretary, Ken Morris said that the league was keen to maximise grounds with floodlights, however no team in Div 2 has floodlights.

There will be no change to Combination 1 or Combination 2
