Kyle Levrier signs for the Port
The Island Games striker Kyle Levrier has signed for Newport from Brading Town.
The 24 year old becomes Steve Brougham's first signing since returning to the Port last week.
An established striker at Wessex League level, Kyle has already scored 7 goals from 11 starts in the league this season. Plucked from Island League team Oakfield last year, he scored 18 Wessex Premier
League goals which helped Brading achieve 4th place in the league.

Newport 2 Laverstock and Ford 1
Steve Brougham's first game back in charge at the Port brought out the sunshine and the supporters.
With the two teams seperated by only one place and one point it was a real six pointer and sure to be a testing encounter. |

Russell Cotes Cup
Full Time
Christchurch 1 Newport 0
Not too sure about the numbering but the line up looks something like this;
Farley
Oatley Russell Ovnik McDonough
Ross Gregory Ricketts D.Powell Burford
McInnes Vale
Subs: L.Powell, Colwill, Wetherick, Self.
John "Simmo" Simpkins takes charge of the Port tonight for the first time as they defend the Russell Cotes cup one of the two trophies they won last season.
There could hardly be a tougher baptism than away to Christchurch one of the best cup sides in the Wessex League.
Mark Augustus hopefully will be fit enough to return and the suspended players from Saturday Martin McDonagh and Steve Russell should return.
We will attempt to keep up to date with the score as the night goes on. Kick off is at 7.30pm. |

Newport FC Chairman Paul Phelps has today asked Paul Sleep to stand down as manager of the first team.
He has issued the following statement;
" I have to announce that Paul Sleep has been relieved of his duties as our football manager. You will realise that this follows a somewhat dreadful run of results and for a club of our size to be struggling at the bottom end of the Wessex Premier League table is not acceptable.
I would like to thank Paul on behalf of the club for the enthusiasm and hard work he has put in particularly over the past 8 months and wish him well in the future. He was not helped by the sudden exodus of players in the summer and could not manage to bring together a successful side this season.
John Simpkins is taking over today (Sunday 13/11/11) as interim manager until a new permanent manager can be found. John's first match in charge will be against Christchurch on Tuesday evening in the Russell Cotes Cup. We all look forward to a brighter future."
